Functional Fitness is excited to bring Buti yoga/movement classes to you! Come feel the benefits of this invigorating style of yoga; and, be sure to welcome Dori to the Crew when you do!


Most people ask if this has anything to do with your "booty" your "butt." The answer is no — it's a word that has far more history and depth to its origin.


Buti is an Indian Marathi word that means "a cure that has been hidden or kept secret." Buti Yoga is a somatic movement practice that incorporates intentional elements of shaking and vibration and seamlessly integrates, functional movement, yoga, asana and cardio dance.

We are societally taught to seek external validation or ways to heal ourselves. The belief of Buti is that the only true cure comes from within. Practicing Buti Yoga helps us strip away the layers that hide this cure and bring about total transformation.

THE MOVEMENT STYLE:

Buti classes utilize spiral structure technique to facilitate the release and toning up of the body, physical, emotional and energetic. Through primal movement, dynamic asana and cardio sprints, students break down the emotional barriers that hold them back from achieving self love and true healing human connection.


Music (tribal, binary beats) guides our classes like an internal GPS — no more 8-count or reps. This is all intuition! The beat blended movement transports you out of your head and into your body on the mat. It is in THIS magical place that you integrate your human experience, instead of escape it. All formats incorporate elements of shaking and vibration to help release stored trauma and stimulate cellular reorganization.


The movement principles in Buti help students integrate their emotional physical and energetic experience. This integration helps students tap into their inner power, unleash unshakable confidence, uncover true desire and bond with others instead of compete. Intentional vibration and grounding techniques help clear stagnant energy and revitalize the body, allowing each student to shift their perception of the world around them.


A SOMATIC MOVEMENT PRACTICE:

The soma is the perceived body; the experience of being. Buti Yoga, powerfully connects all of the senses with the deepest muscles of the body to bridge the gap between energetic, spiritual, and physical worlds. The practice uses intentional, shaking and vibration to regulate the nervous system and release stored trauma in a fascia-informed way.


BUTI helps you return HOME to yourself. We can only be at home with ourselves when we break down the barriers of compartmentalization and start to heal and integrate all of our parts. Buti connects these pieces and severed connections to restore the whole person.
